Allison Sekemoto has vowed to rescue her creator, Kanin, who is being held hostage and tortured by the psychotic vampire Sarren. The call of blood leads her back to the beginning—New Covington and the Fringe, and a vampire prince who wants her dead yet may become her wary ally.

Even as Allie faces shocking revelations and heartbreak like she’s never known, a new strain of the Red Lung virus that decimated humanity is rising to threaten human and vampire alike.
The Eternity Cure was a MAJOR need now book. I absolutely loved the first book, The Immortal Rules, and you can read my review HERE. We start off with Allison looking for her sire, Kanin. Kanin is in major trouble, and is being held hostage and tortured by the psychotic vampire, Sarren. She meets her blood brother Jackal on her way, and they agree to help each other searching for him with some certain terms they agreed to. Aside from that, I don't think much happened in this book. Yes, I was disappointed. Compared to the first book, I really think it stooped down low. It was still a good read overall, but my high expectations were certainly not met.
Allison was a kick-butt protagonist, and I think Jackal really added humor to the book. What I didn't like was that I felt there was no major problem in the book. I actually thought Allison looking for Kanin was just a minor problem, but then it took up the whole book. There were also many parts that I felt were a bit unnecessary, and that the book would have been better if shortened. I also thought the characters were lacking. I just needed MORE characters you know? Like if another new character was added, I think that would have spiced things up a bit. The action was pretty good, and I loved when Zeke showed up in the book. I think the BEST part in the book for me was probably the ending. It was definitely heart-breaking and just utterly shocking. I really don't know what will happen in the third book, and all I can do is just wait.
Overall, I think it was a pretty good book, it just didn't live up to my expectations. I'm definitely going into the third book with no expectations, and hopefully it'll be as good as the first. I really hope Julie Kagawa decides to spice things up a bit. Now, I would still recommend these books, because they're still pretty good. Also, I know a lot of people who really enjoyed this book, so it might just be me.

  1. I was a little bored up until the 25% (which is when Zeke showed up)! After that I really enjoyed it though! And the ending...oh, how my heart shattered!

  2. I started this one, but I got distracted with some others I really needed to get read immediately. I was liking it a lot though! But I'm not even at 20%, I don't think. It's too bad that not much happens. I am SUPER curious about how things go with Zeke (I heard its great!) and I want to know that major twist! I have a couple books to read and then I'm back at this one! I can't wait! Though I'm glad for the warning that it's a bit slow at parts.

  3. I have this too, Farah. I just need to read it! I will lower my expectations a little after reading your review, though. Sometimes that actually makes me enjoy a book more. Wonderful review. :)

  5. I rally enjoyed the first book. It sounds a little slow if there is anything really going on, but I still have to hold out some hope. :D Great review.

  6. Ohhhh, the ending sounds terrifying. I hate waiting and this ending sounds like one that will break my heart :p It's a shame it didn't live up to your expectations, because I'm freaking excited. I really like Allie and I love that we get to see more of Jackal :D

  7. I read the first book and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it -- I don't like really scary books. Excited to see all these great reviews...

  8. I keep seeing either three or five star reviews for this one, nothing in between. I have a review for this coming up and I am one of the five star reviews. Compared to my reaction of the Immortal Rules I loved this one much more. Something also said what you said about your expectations. I think that is key. If you were expecting this one to be like the Immortal Rules, I think that is what could have been depressing. I went into this book with no expectations so maybe that's it! Great review, I hope you enjoy your next read more!

  9. Everyone I know loved The Immortal Rules and I'm looking forward to it. It's so disappointing that you didn't like this as much as the first and especially when you had high expectations from it. That is the suckiest feeling ever! Anyways, I hope the third book has lots going on for you.
    Excellent review, Farah! :)

  12. Definitely not just you. I was so disappointed with The Eternity Cure. After the amazing The Immortal Rules it was especially depressing. I look at all the 5 Star reviews and think What did they see that I didn't. It's frustrating to say the least. Anyway I'm still a fan and I'll read the next book but I've significantly lowered my expectations.

  15. THE ENDING :O It killed me! I really liked the sequel, I guess I might've overlooked the stuff that bugged you. I looved the Allie-Zeke parts and enjoyed Jackal's role as well!
