Mini Reviews: This is So Not Happening by Kieran Scott & That One Night by Sarah Billington

This is So Not Happening (The He's So/She's So Trilogy #3)

Title: This is So Not Happening (The He's So/She's So, #3)
Author: Kieran Scott
Publisher: Simon & Schuster Childrens Books
Genre: Young Adult (Contemporary)
Rating: 3.5/5 stars

This is So Not Happening is the final book in this contemporary trilogy by Kieran Scott. I loved the first book and enjoyed the second and third books. However I really do think this series would have been better off as a stand alone or even a dualogy. In order not to give any spoilers, I can't write much about the events happening in this book. But most of the characters annoyed me so much, starting with Jake and Ally who are the main protagonists. Jake was too much of a macho male while Ally was too goody two shoes and too forgiving and needy. The secondary characters were all selfish including Hammond and Ally's best friend. Surprisingly, the only character I liked in this book was Chloe, and trust me that's some irony! Kieran is an amazing storyteller no doubt, even with such frustrating characters I did enjoy this third installment, However the ending was obvious and safe. I personally can't wait to read more from Kieran Scott/Kate Brian/Emma Harrison, because she's an amazing contemporary author!

Other books in the series
She's So Dead to Us (Book #1)
He's So Not Worth It (Book #2)

That One Night

Title: That One Night
Author: Sarah Billington
Publisher: Billington Media
Genre: New Adult (Contemporary)
Rating: 4/5 stars

That One Night is a 30 page New Adult Novella. New Adult is a relatively new genre that deals with protagonists that are 18 years old and above. It Makes us 18+ year olds feel a bit better about crushing on the love interests if they're at least of legal age! Because this novel is only 30 pages, you don't expect much plot wise. Annie, the protagonist, bumps into (literally) Skylar and spills a drink all over him on her way out. They find out they have a friend in common, Bree, and he walks her out. This story focuses on the dialogue between them and Annie's feelings. Bree used to be her best friend but so much has changed. Spending time with a virtual stranger that you feel closer to than your best friend gets you thinking. Also Skylar was such a cutie! He was funny, charming, and a total gentleman. What's wrong then? well, you gotta read this Novella to know about that and its ending! It was a very cute novella and I wished it was turned into an actual novel because the premise of it was adorable! I love Sarah Billington's contemporary novels and I can't wait for more by her!

  3. I like your idea of mini reviews! The first book I've seen around and was curious about it. I din't realize it was part of a series. And I haven't heard of That One Night yet. I might have to try it if it's New Adult! Thanks for stopping by today btw!

Hahahaha YES Juhina! My thoughts exactly! I always have to tack on a couple extra years to the YA boys so I don't feel quite as creepy crushing on them at the ripe old age of 30:) I'm definitely loving the New Adult genre and have been devouring as many books as I'm able to find. Thanks for the minis!

  8. I've been reading a novella series that I love! It's called Creepy Hollow though each novella has a different title. It's by Rachel Morgan and each novella is about 60 or so pages long. As each novella goes along you see more into the world, the characters and the plot. I'm loving it because sometimes, I just don't have enough time to read a full novel. But this, yes and I know every month a new novella is coming out. It's about 150 pages or more now. And its great, but it is YA. However, I never feel pervy for drooling over the underage boys. If they were real, well then yes. But this is fiction!!

I'm glad you reviewed the first trilogy. I've been wondering about that series. Too bad the third book wasn't that great. Sometimes it feels like they stretch a series out just to make a little extra money.

  9. LOL at the New Adult explanation! Wasn't aware of this Genre, but I'm glad it's starting to emerge! I should really finish the He Said, She Said series- I remember liking the first book too. For someone who hates excessive drama, that type was kind of addictive!

  11. Ooo, the Sarah Billington book sounds good.

I have to confess, the 3rd He's So/She's So book is my least favorite one, too--and I agree, the series would have been stronger without it. I still like the author enough to read another book of hers, though.

    Nicely reviewed! :)
