In Tahereh Mafi’s Shatter Me, Juliette escaped from The Reestablishment by seducing Warner—and then putting a bullet in his shoulder. But as she’ll learn in Destroy Me, Warner is not that easy to get rid of. . .

Back at the base and recovering from his near-fatal wound, Warner must do everything in his power to keep his soldiers in check and suppress any mention of a rebellion in the sector. Still as obsessed with Juliette as ever, his first priority is to find her, bring her back, and dispose of Adam and Kenji, the two traitors who helped her escape. But when Warner’s father, The Supreme Commander of The Reestablishment, arrives to correct his son’s mistakes, it’s clear that he has much different plans for Juliette. Plans Warner simply cannot allow.

Set after Shatter Me and before its forthcoming sequel, Unravel Me,Destroy Me is a novella told from the perspective of Warner, the ruthless leader of Sector 45.
I must point out that I generally do not read novellas, however knowing that this novella is from Warner's POV and that it is set AFTER Shatter Me made me pick it up immediately. I've always had a soft spot for Warner and even mentioned in my review that no one is pure good or bad but only a result of their environment. Warner fit this perfectly in Shatter Me because we could tell he was struggling internally with himself. However in Destroy Me? oh god, you find out that Warner is really just a prisoner as Juliette was. He is a prisoner of his father and I understood. I knew that Warner hated who his father wanted him to be and that he just can't do it. I know why he killed the soldier in cold blood in Shatter Me and your heart further breaks. But most of all? his love for Juliett. The all consuming love he has for her and his need for her to see how similar they both are and how he gets her just broke my heart. Destroy Me is a book that really shows you who Warner really is. It is a book that is going to get tons of Adam fans to convert to Warner fans, I know I am officially Team Warner. Tahereh amazes me again with her short novella, her writing style is totally different from Shatter Me and fit quite well with Warner's voice. I honestly can't wait for Unravel Me to know which direction Tahereh is planning on taking with this amazing series!

Being a huge fan of Shatter Me, I was very excited to start this short novella, Destroy Me. The best part is that, it's told from Warner's point of view! While reading Shatter Me, I definitely had mixed feelings about Warner. I didn't know whether to like him, or whether to hate him. He was just one of those characters where you end up having a love/hate relationship with! Destroy Me starts off from a certain point in Shatter Me, but what I really loved is that we get to hear what Warner thinks about whatever happens, instead of Juliett. I think this novella really got me to connect with Warner much more, and know him as a character. I don't think i'd ever understand Warner if I've never read this book, and I'm so glad I did. I think I judged Warner, without actually knowing the feelings he has inside. That's why I'm going to thank God that I read this book, because I no longer have a love/hate relationship with Warner, but a LOVE LOVE relationship! Despite this book being short, there were also moments where it almost broke my heart. Y'all probably know how Tahereh Mafi writes, but if you don't, its so, oh God beautiful. Anyways, I cannot wait to open the pages of Unravel Me, and let Tahereh break my heart once again!

When I read Shatter Me I too was unsure about Warner I wasn't completely fond of Adam, so kept my opinion open, but you ladies have got me so excited to read this, I'm convinced afterwards I will totally be team Warner too, now if only this book would hurry up and release over here! Oh well I do have Unravel Me to keep me entertained until then! Lovely reviews! :)

  5. I can't wait to read this. I bought it right when it came out but haven't had a chance to pick it up yet. If you love Warner, you are going to die when you read Unravel Me, in a good way. I wasn't a Warner fan but this was definitely his book to shine and I'm swayed towards him more. Wonderful reviews ladies. :)

  6. After reading Destroy Me, I don't think I'll ever like Adam as much as Warner. He already paled in comparison to him in Shatter Me, considering Warner was far of a more interesting character.

I want to read Unravel Me so badly!!!

  8. Oh I'm not always fond of novellas unless I really like the series, but I'm terrified of reading this. I'm not a huge Warner fan and don't want that to change. I'm quite happy disliking him. :D

    Brilliant reviews, you two!

  11. I've read this book few months back and I like it, but I'm not fan of Warner. I don't know why, but Adam is my kind of guy I guess. I hope we'll be happy with the ending of this series. :)

    Great reviews :)

  12. Usually I don't like to read novellas but I think you've convinced me! I really don't like Warner but I think it would be good to see things in his perspective. Who knows, maybe I'll even end up switching teams...or maybe not lol. I love Adam :)

  15. I love novellas when we get to see things from a different characters perspective! It was especially great to understand Warner and his family and background more. I now can understand more of why he does the things he does and I do know now that he really loves Juliette.

  16. I kind of hate novellas. They always unravel something big and important about a character, and then in the novel, they just say it like all of us have read the novella. No we haven't read the novella, explain what happened to the character, why did it happen? I hope Tahereh explains everything in Unravel Me. I'm not planning to read Destroy Me, because I don't have an ereader and I'm not into "short books" lol
But great review. You should more of these, double reviews. :)

  17. I love novellas, especially when I am really invested in a story. I want to get every little bit that I can. I have to say I am not a Warner fan, and I kinda just don't get it, but that's just me. I have Destroy Me and really need to read it. Maybe it will help me get a better understanding of him and not dislike him so much. Great reviews!!

  18. I loved this novella, especially when Warner reads from Juliette's Notebook, it was hauntingly beautiful, and showed a softer side to Warner, that had me falling for him!
