For 17-year-old Seeker, Janie Grey, ridding the Baltimore streets of the undead is an inherited duty passed down from her Cherokee ancestors. Seeker Training Lesson #1: Never trust the undead. After her father’s tragic death, Janie creates her own life lesson: Love isn’t worth the risk. Both lessons are easy to follow until she encounters the flawed Kai Sterdam. At first, she believes he is the hybrid she is trained to hunt. But, when he has human traits, she determines she doesn’t know what he is. As Janie’s intrigue over who Kai is pushes her deeper into his mysterious past, she discovers a shocking truth that is even more harrowing than the evil they are up against. It’s a secret Kai wants to keep hidden, especially from Janie.
Dark Seeker is a book about Janie Grey, who has a duty of killing the undead. The reason why she also very much despises them, is that one of the undead's actions resulted in her own father's death. Janie is a very powerful character. I really enjoy reading about her because she is so strong, and doesn't trust anyone, and is very brave.
When Janie meets Kai, things start to shake up. Kai is a very interesting character with the typical bad boy aura. When Janie meets him, she is confused about what he is. He seems to be part of the undead, but also has human characteristics. The revealing of Kai made me hooked more as suspense evolved in the story.
Even though Janie promised herself to not fall in love, thats what is happening with Kai. Their relationship together is so lovely and exciting to read about. I loved how Taryn wrote every chapter with new exciting events that keeps you wanting to read more.
Dark Seeker is Taryn's debut novel, and I just want to give a big clap to her. Its such a great book that I loved, and I am looking forward to reading the second book of the Seeker series!
A thrilling tune, higher the volume!
Giveaway
There is one eBook copy of Dark Seeker up for grabs to one lucky winner! To win this prize, all you have to do is comment on this post with your name, email address, and an answer to the question below. This contest ends on December 27th, and winners will be announced soon after.
You are stuck in a deserted forest, that has three doors that can free you. Behind the three doors lie creatures. Behind the first door lies a vampire, behind the second door lies a zombie, and behind the third door lies a werewolf. You can use anything you find in the forest to get past them, so which door would you go through?
This sounds SOOO good!!!! Hope I win!
ReplyDeleteI would go through the werewolf door and use a stick to play fetch with him. :)
Thanks!

Thank you for the contest!
ReplyDeleteI would also choose the door with the werewolf, but I wouldn't take anything from the forest with me. I figure that I would be considered lunch by a zombie or vampire, and my best bet would be a werewolf as long as I appeared non-threatening in any way.

I would choose the zombie door. Then I might be able to outrun him. Maybe throw sticks behind me to trip him up!

sorry if it is a repeat, I wasn't sure it went through
All three are going to try to take a chunk out of me so I think my best bet would be to choose first door. I would find a stick in the forest and hopefully seeing as i'd be in a life or death situation I would have enough strength to stake the vampire, or go out trying...

Hi Farah! Your review makes me want to read it. I think this book will be a great read! I love reading sort-of mystery novels! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays! Keep safe. :)
Hi everyone, thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment. I loved reading about which door you would pick. I would have to go with the vampire. Who knows? It could be a HOT one like Eric from True Blood or Dimitri from Vampire Academy. The best would be Rhage from The Black Dagger Brotherhood. Thanks again for dropping by. Good luck in the giveaway :)
ReplyDeleteA HUGE thanks to Farah for your awesome review and for being part of the tour. It's been SO much fun! So happy you enjoyed the book! <3
All the best & happy holidays!!
Taryn :))
Well, first of all, I would wonder why there were three doors in the middle of a deserted forest. :p I think I would go with the zombie. Maybe I could make a net or mask sorta thing from moss and throw it on it's face, then runnn. I hope this is the slow type zombie. :D

Lovely review!
ReplyDeleteI would choose the zombie's door! I don't think zombies have fully functional brains, so I could easily pretend to be one of them without harm (I'm zombie-like when I wake up in the morning). Even though I've read great books about cool vampires and werewolves, I'm still afraid of them...
Happy holidays and thanks for the giveaway :)

I've been seeing this book around the blogosphere. I'm really intrigued by it. I'm in need of a kickass heroine. Something refreshing.
